Glinda's castle was another long journey in terms of figuring out the final look. Production Designer Robert Stromberg--whom also happens to be a ridiculously amazing matte painter--started the first painting in this group for Oz's voyage to Glinda's Castle in Quadling Country. I took over soon after and changed the lighting, background much of the terrain and added the resolved the castle. The other images range from rough sketches very early in pre-production all the way through designs for matte paintings in post.
These two paintings were done for murals painted in a a hallway of Glinda's Chambers masterfully realized by set designer Ian Macfayden.
